San Vincenzo

Sand dunes, Mediterranean scrub and crystal-clear sea on the Etruscan coast

San Vincenzo is located right in the heart of the Etruscan Coast, an area that ranges from Livorno up to the headland in Piombino. The golden beaches that characterize the landscape of San Vincenzo stretch along a cobalt-colored sea. The nearby thick and shady pine forest is crossed by multiple paths that area ideal for walking, cycling and horseriding. San Vincenzo, which has been a blue flag for many years, combines natural beauty with generous hospitality, making it an excellent tourist destination.

San Vincenzo has been inhabited since ancient times; even the Etruscans recognised the place’s strategic importance. Its proximity to Populonia, at the time known as the very powerful Lucumonia, made it a particularly attractive location thanks to its abundance of mineral deposits and extensive forests. Between the 9th and 5th centuries BC San Vincenzo was therefore able to become an industrial and commercial hotspot thanks to its mining facilities.
