Built as a small hamlet atop a hill overlooking the valley of the thermal baths in Saturnia, Hotel Saturno Fonte Pura has a sulfur spa pool fed by its own spring. Surrounded by a large garden with centuries-old olive trees, the hotel is nestled in the countryside of southern Maremma, a place that is wild, authentic and rich in history.
The therapeutic properties of the waters
The water flowing in the thermal pools maintains a constant temperature of about 99.5 °F (37.5 °C).
Chemically, the water is sulfuric, carbonic, sulfated and bicarbonate-alkaline, with the presence of hydrogen sulfide gas and carbon dioxide. Very rich in minerals, the water is a powerful antioxidant.
These waters thus have therapeutic effects on the skin, acting as a natural exfoliant with antiseptic action, while promoting blood circulation and reducing blood pressure. Thermal cures, mainly in the form of balneotherapy, are particularly useful for relieving skin inflammations such as psoriasis, as well as reducing muscle stiffness and improving tissue elasticity, while inhaling the vapors promotes respiratory health by disinfecting the airways and improving breathing.
